Specifications:

All vertical boards are 1-3/8" thick deck grade cedar.
Cross Batts are 7/8" thick select cedar 1x4 or 1x6, let into vertical pieces 1/4" deep and glued and screwed in place.
Brace (if desired) is planed to thickness to match cross batts and is surface mounted with glue and screws.
Closed pattern shutters are connected with biscuits.
2x8 shutters (open pattern) are joined with 1/2" dowels set 3" into each piece.
